RSA will be closed in remembrance of our fallen. To all of our men and women in the armed forces, thank you.
Hawaii's longest running BJJ organization for competition - now partnered with Rickson Gracie and the Jiu-Jitsu Global Federation - will hold their next tournament starting on June 11. The JJGF is fast becoming the new standard in fusing sport Jiu-Jitsu and reality based martial arts. Ramp up training now. For those wanting to take their art to the next level, we highly recommend the Talent Code by Daniel Coyle. Main points include the idea that all humans possess the ability to gain mastery in a specific activity regardless of genetic inheritance. The core concepts include deep practice and increasing myelin through repetition: the key to mastery. Great read. Kalani helping the guys after class. RSA upper belts are encouraged to help the lower belts learn and feel welcomed. Great mentors aren't perfect but strive to be better every day and pass on knowledge.
Please wear a clean Gi every time you come to class. Training Jiu-Jitsu in Hawaii's humid climate can increase the growth of bacteria and fungus: pathogens that love damp and sweaty Gi fabric. Plus it smells bad.
Thursday Jiu-Jitsu daytime classes are back in full gear: Ronn, AJ, Shane, Carter, Kalani, Bob, Benel, Conner, Mike, Kibo, and Nick.
Many of the photos that you see on the RSA website are by Steve Decker. If anyone is in need of a professional photographer that resides in the Honolulu area who has both a keen eye for beauty and an easy to work with attitude, we highly recommend that you give him a call. His contact information can be found on his website: http://21northphotography.com/
It was another great night at RSA with Grandmaster Relson Gracie teaching a remarkable seminar. Thank you to everyone who attended and also to those who visited from other academies including: Sam Mahi, Romolo Barros, Kayle Quinn, and Paul Kalaiwaa. Special congratulations to our newest upper belts: Relson, thank you for everything you've given us here at RSA and to Hawaii as a whole, for without you, Jiu-Jitsu and the culture therein would not be the same. New day classes have been added to the RSA Jiu-Jitsu schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:30 am with sparring to follow. These classes will be taught by Ronn at the Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Kapahulu location in Honolulu.
Please check in using your keytag or student ID number before entering the academy.
This coming Tuesday, May 17th at 6:30 pm Relson Gracie will be at RSA to teach a seminar. We will also be gaining two upper belts immediately following. Cost at the door is $30.00.
If you have any questions concerning your membership, please call Justin at +1 (808) 778-7207 and he will help you.
