Wearing our official competitor patch on your gi is an important part of our team unity, and we ask all RSA competitors to use them when competing in tournaments.
Patch Availability: Patches come in both kids and adult sizes, and active competitors receive them completely free of charge. Just check with Sensei Ronn to acquire one at the academy. Placement: Please use the reference image above to see exactly where the patch should be sewn on your gi. The top of the circle should be approximately 3-4 inches from the bottom edge of the neck collar. Tailoring Option: A big thank you to Aaron for recommending a fantastic local tailor. Sook Hi's Alteration in Honolulu does wonderful work and will attach the patch to your gi for $20. You can find directions and business details on the Sook Hi's Alteration Yelp Page. Thank you for your continued hard work and dedication. Sensei Springer shared an insightful interview with RSA regarding Grandmaster Hélio Gracie's influence on modern BJJ. It offers a solid breakdown of historical perspectives and serves as a strong foundation for a future podcast discussion with Coach Robert Drysdale, author of Opening Closed-Guard: The Origins of Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil. Bringing together Drysdale's extensive historical research with Pedro Valente's deep preservation of Gracie history creates the ideal environment for a grounded, fact-based conversation on the true origins and evolution of the art.
